CY06

Sounds foreign to you?
Sounds like a secret code?

Yes, it is. It is a secret code to my skin.
Yesterday I went to Sephora and had my skin matched. And this is my skin tone.

CY06.

Yes, I don't know what it means either, but I know what makeup should I wear and that it will cost me about $50 to look natural.
But let's start from the beginning.
Sephora recently introduced a tool called Color IQ that will scan your skin and tell you your exact skin tone. They matched all possible skin tones to their makeup, so the tool will tell you what exact shade to buy to look your best. No more guessing! No more trying makeup that is either too dark or too light. Now you will know for sure.
The lovely Sephora makeup girl in a sixties inspired smock took the scanner and scanned three spots on my body, my inner arm, my neck and my face. After a couple of seconds the scanned beeped and revealed a number, or rather a secret code - I am a CY06. Then it showed me about 100 different products suitable for my skin tone and I could narrow the selection down according to my skin type, type of coverage I am looking for, consistency of makeup and so on.

I was recommended to start using the Laura Mercier Silk Cream Foundation in Beige Ivory, so I requested a sample to try at home. I really want to know if it's worth the $40+ price tag. But since I just ran out of my favorite CoverGirl foundation, I may as well try to buy it sooner than later.

B.I.N.G.O. Time

I love bingo!

I don't think it's just a game for old people, not at all. The thrill when you hear calling the numbers, the shaky hand trying to locate them on your card, the victorious scream BINGO! Old people may as well get a heart attack. At least me and my husband got a couple of skipped heartbeats, because we had a date night on Saturday and we went to our local Senior Center for a Bingo Bash.
I got to wear my near-free or thrifted goodies that night.
Shirt: Goodwill ($1) - originally Forever 21
Pants: ELLE by Kohl's (free)
Necklace: Kohl's ($1.30)
Shoes: Payless Shoesource
Purse: Forever 21
Adorable Peacock ring from Macy's
Six cards each for $15, plus free pizza and soda. And 10 chances to win $140 AND 2 chances to win $250. Seniors know how to party!
 Sorry for the blurriness!
We didn't win anything, but it was super fun to play. The patterns were always different, from number seven, to a cross, blackout or three bingos on one card, and adrenalin was running high. I met couple of my older friends and we are definitely coming back.

XOXO,

Fifty shades of Grey: For Redheads Only

Grey and silver color is generally not recommended for redheads. But looking at this gorgeous Redhead below, don't you disagree?
When you mix black and white, you will get grey. Depending on the amount of black (or white), shades of gray range from soft gainsboro to dark and dramatic slate grey. However, some redheads looks great in grey, and some just disappear in the mass of soft grayness and fade to the background. So how do you wear gray, if you are a Redhead?
Everything depends on your coloring. Are you Warm or Cool? "If your dominant characteristic is Warm it means you have an all-over glow to your coloring. With obvious warm and earthy undertones to your hair, eyes and skin. The majority of classic red-heads fall within this group," says The Chic Fashionista. If you are Cool,  it means you have an all-over cool look to your coloring. You may appear deep but what sets you apart from the dark-haired (Deep) is your softened, grayish undertones." If you don't know, you can take the Gold or Silver test.
Generally, Autumn and Spring coloring is considered Warm and Winter or Summer is considered Cool. And if you are guessing that grey is a cool color and Cool colored Redheads will look stunning in grey, you are absolutely right.
Cool Redheads (imagine Kate Middleton with reddish hair) can wear absolutely any shade of gray, from light grey, medium grey, dark grey, charcoal to taupe.

Warmer Redheads, such as Drew Barrymore or Isla Fisher should stick to light gray or charcoal. The rest of us Redheads can pull off only one shade of grey, stone.

How do you feel about fifty shades of Grey on Redheads?
